Missive #750

As a child, Orlando had everything he needed; brought up by two devoted aunts he was surrounded by love and wanted for nothing. But his aunts feel that love is not enough – what Orlando needs to secure his future is money, and it is only by an accident of birth that he is not to inherit the Estate of Stow Stocksley and all that goes with it. So Orlando is introduced to the grandfather he has never known and the lifestyle he could never have imagined. An excellent education, a promising career, the right Social circle… now all Orlando has to do to inherit his grandfather’s fortune is prove himself a worthy heir. This is the first of the authors freestanding books that I have read. It has a legal base for the plot but her Caper Court series was based on her shipping lawyer background. That knowledge does not carry over as well into other sectors of the law. Not a spoiler but the book ends as if the author was going to start another series. Unlike his wastrel, drug-addict cousin – Roger who was destined for the inheritance. But life is not running quite as smoothly as everyone planned. Love, sex and a decidedly dubious friendship get in the way. And with the appearance of the infamous Roger, charming, self-destructive and the true heir to Stow Stocksley, Orlando’s life – and his future – is turned upside down. —Book promo @ goodreads.com

I went to town yesterday and was going to have breakfast at Smokey’s but they do not open until 8:00 so I went out to the Adobe Café and Bakery again. Then when I got back to Reserve I went to the garage and had Desperado’s engine checked for a water leak. It was not a hose but the around the gasket for the thermostat cover. The gasket will be ordered and when It comes in I go back for it to be replaced. Last thing to do was pick up some groceries at Jake’s and get back to the Park.

The weather underground reporting station at or near the Adobe Café did not report any rain yesterday but we had a shower here. It was not a lot but enough to dampen the ground so may a couple hundredths. The 10 forecast is now predicting rain for almost every day so I think we are going to be getting the tail end of the monsoon for the next six weeks or more.
