This posting is mostly about Sunday which is not that important or exciting but I’ll report on it anyway.
Since it was Time Change Day I did most of my device time changes on Saturday before going to bed. That had me getting up with the ‘new’ time which was going to be the same time in Arizona which did not do any changing.
With the time change I arrived at Ramona’s Cafe in Lordsburg, NM about 15 minutes before they opened at the ‘new’ time. I got a veggie omelet which was not on their menu but they did manage to cook one up for me. After breakfast I drove a couple miles to Love’s to fill Desperado’s tank with gas and continue down the road. During that hour in Lordsburg the wind picked up and was blowing hard during the 20+ miles to the Arizona/New Mexico state line. At that point the wind slacked off and the I-10 road surface went to hell. It is is good shape in New Mexico but needs a lot of work in Arizona. There was still some wind but not as strong until about 10 miles before Wilcox and 10 miles after. Both of those strong wind areas are to the north of playas where the wind can build up a good head of steam before hitting I-10.
I got to my winter quarters around 11:00 and took 30 minutes to get utilities hooked up and everything inside Desperado arranged from travel mode to living mode. It was good that I arrived when I did because I’m still playing the part of Joe Btfsplk and the rains came a few minutes before 13:00 and dumped 0.33″ of rain on me in 30 minutes. A lot of standing water around Desperado when it quit.
The route was almost all on I-10 and totaled 163 miles. This was the route which does not include the short detour in Lordsburg for breakfast and gas: Pine St, I-10 (144 mi) & US191.
I went to Naco, MX yesterday for a dental appointment and when finished there stopped at a RV repair shop in Whetstone on my was back to the Park. At the shop I wanted to get an estimate for repairing the hail damage plus have them look at some of the other things that I need fixed. I noticed 6-7 mobile hail dent repair vendor in Deming this past week. They came in like vultures to a carcass after the news about Deming’s hail storm went out. They repair dents, not replace broken licence plate light lens, kitchen exhaust vents or RV trim molding.
I have an appointment in Dec to fix those hail issues and mabe some of the other things or maybe not. The most pressing is the fresh water tank leak which I need to get fixed soon so I can use the tank when not hooked up to city water. The shop did not give me the impression that they would have any interest in doing a tank replacement so I didn’t even mention that. Their suggested fix for the toilet that sometimes does not hold water after a flush was to replace the toilet. They are very supportive of the Landfill Economy!
