81. Nasruddin on the Roof
A man down on the ground was shouting to Nasruddin up on the roof. “Please, sir, come here!”
Nasruddin climbed down and asked the man what he wanted.
“I need money,” the man explained.
“Why didn’t you just say so?” said Nasruddin. “Instead, you made me climb down.”
“I was embarrassed to shout it out loud,” the man explained.
Nasruddin told the man to come up on the roof. Then, once they were both up on the roof, Nasruddin told the man he had nothing to give him.
“Why didn’t you just say so?” the man asked.
Nasruddin just smiled.

Not a lot to say about my trip to Sierra Vista yesterday. The blood draw at the VA was quick and not very painful. The phlebotomists at the SV VA Clinic get a lot of practice and have always done a good draw. Yesterday, I had a newbie try to draw blood and wasn’t getting much. Her ‘trainer’ took over and jabbed me again in the other arm and they got what they needed for the lab work. The eye exam was of little note; only a slight difference in my prescription which I don’t plan on having filled. Picked up my hearing aids and went for breakfast at Café Olé. Then just down the street was the CoOp where I picked up an order of non dairy yogurt and placed another order for more plus some tamales.
Got Desperado some gas on our way out of town heading for Bisbee Computer. There the day became mixed with some good and some bad. I got a ‘backup’ laptop’ for less than $100 that has Fedora Linux installed; that was good. The guy at Bisbee Computer knows how to install Linux OS but beyond that his knowledge is about on par with mine. So the old laptop still has some issues that I’ll need to sort out on my own or send it to System 76 next October if I haven’t fixed them by then.
The laptop is a HP Stream 11 Pro G4 EE which was first available in 2018. I don’t think it is available as new anyplace other than eBay where there are some ‘new in the box’ offers in the range of $150-200 but all of them have Windows installed. I spent most of yesterday afternoon getting it partially set up and used it to type part of this posting. The old laptop is still booting and is still usable but I’ll be trying to fix it. Since I don’t know what I’m doing it is good that I have a backup laptop because I’m sure to screw up the fix before it really does get fixed.
Another big step yesterday was I got connected to my account at MEGA Cloud storage, downloaded the Bookmarks that I had exported from Brave in Zorin and imported them for Brave Fredora. I have more yet to do on Fredora but it is working well so far. It is not a powerful laptop but has been able to do everything that I tried so far.
