113. The Angel with the Golden Coins

Nasruddin had a dream. In his dream, an angel was counting golden coins into Nasruddin’s hand, one at a time. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight… finally the angel had counted out nine coins.

“If you could give me ten coins,” Nasruddin said to the angel, “I would be able to pay all my debts.”

The angel then looked at him angrily and disappeared.

Nasruddin awoke from his dream. He looked, and saw there were no golden coins in his hand.

“Come back, angel!” shouted Nasruddin. “Please come back! I’ve thought it over, and I’ll take the nine!”

I did a shopping trip to Truth or Consequences last Wednesday. The first stop was at Bullock’s, the only market grocery store, which I found to be a good store. They had almost everything I was looking for and what they did not have I can live without. Then just a few blocks down the street I had breakfast at Tony’s. Got their Huevos a la Mexicana with refried beans which was good but if I go back I’ll try something else.

This past Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday morning the low temperatures were below 40°F. Yesterday and this morning have been in the low 40s with the lows forecast to remain in that range for a week then back to the upper 30s again. I’m getting a bit of winter temperatures that will soon be freezing mornings.

When Franklin D. Roosevelt introduced the 30-year mortgage during the New Deal era, the average lifespan for an American was 66 years. This proposal lead to the creation the 30-year mortgage as a standardized loan that could be paid off during a borrower’s working years. President Trump thinking that he can do the same thing has proposed a 50 year mortgage. Unfortunately, even with the lifespan now at 78 a new home buyer will not be able to pay off the mortgage during their working years; probably not pay it off during their life. What is he thinking? Is he thinking?

Russia first humanoid robot with artificial intelligence fell on stage during its official debut at a technology event in Moscow on November 10. Be that as it may, I like what Vladimir Vitukhin, CEO of the Russian robotics firm Idol, the developer said: “This is real-time learning, when a good mistake turns into knowledge, and a bad mistake turns into experience”.

Trump 2.0 dreams of reviving manufacturing – the MAGA way. Call it the Magically Globally Aggressive (MAGA) model, deviating attention from what really matters: the monstrous debt; the declining power of the US dollar; the tech bubble; inflation; real geopolitics. Plunder – targeting allies and manufactured foes alike – is the last card available to the Empire of Chaos. — Why the trade/tech cards are Made in China by Pepe Escobar

The deterioration of every government begins with the decay of the principles on which it was founded. — Montesquieu.
