11. NASRUDDIN REPORTS A STOLEN DONKEY...
I have 'scheduled' this posting for today while I'll be driving to my next camp. That is something that I have learned how to do, I think, since using WordPress for a year now. There was a stop along the way for breakfast at Denny's and gas at Pilot in Eloy, AZ. The route was mostly on the Interstate; I have done most of it avoiding the Interstate but not this time. A total of 271 miles: AZ82, AZ90, I-10, I8, William St, Old US80 & Fresno St.

Not much happening here. I went to town on Monday and got groceries and filled Desperado with gas and propane. Also went to my US Store to get my VA copay billing but it was not there. I was able to find how much I owed online which was a big improvement over past years. That was the good news, the bad news was when I went to pay.gov to make the payment I kept getting an error message for the telephone number that I entered. Went to the Park office and the woman on duty was able to get online and make the payment for me.

Prolific septuagenarian poet, novelist and essayist Berry (Citizenship Papers, 2003, etc.) returns with another collection of essays, most published (or delivered as speeches) in 2004. The astonishing thing about these pieces is not their lucidity and grace, not their plain profundity, but the variety of his subjects, the dimensions of his knowledge, experience, interest, passion.

10. NASRUDDIN COUNTS THE DONKEYS
Nasruddin was taking the village’s donkeys, laden with grain, to the mill. There was Nasruddin’s donkey, plus nine more.
Halfway there, Nasruddin counted. Only nine!
Worried, he got down and went looking for the lost donkey.

This is the second book in the Viking trilogy which I have enjoyed. I think Severin writes better historical fiction than the nonfiction travel books that he wrote early in his career. He has a couple more fiction series that I will read when I finish this one.

9. NASRUDDIN’S FLYING DONKEY…
I have not liked the first two books of this trilogy as well as the Nantucket series but will read the third book. Will then move on to some of the authors other series which I think are all alternate history which I enjoy.
