Missive #165

Nasruddin was taking the village’s donkeys, laden with grain, to the mill. There was Nasruddin’s donkey, plus nine more.

Halfway there, Nasruddin counted. Only nine!

Worried, he got down and went looking for the lost donkey.

When he came back, he counted again: ten donkeys.

“Praise God!” he said. “The missing donkey returned.”

Nasruddin got back on his donkey and continued the journey.

Later, he counted again. Only nine!

He dismounted, went looking, came back, and counted. Ten donkeys!

“Well, I better walk. When I’m riding, that wayward donkey escapes.”

Nasruddin was just forgetting to count the donkey underneath him!

The weather guessers faked me out again. They were forecasting that the morning low for Wednesday morning was going to be 35°. Since they almost always forecast lows to be higher than what we get I plugged in my basement heater expecting it to freeze. What did we get — a low of 36.9° which meant that the Thermo Cube never switched on. I will leave the basement heater connected until I leave here with the 10 day forecast expecting 30s and low 40s. I expected that it would freeze at least one morning before leaving and didn’t have to wait long; the low Thanksgiving morning was 31.6°.

I made an avatar for me that I wanted to have shown when I reply to Comments and screwed up all the prior Comment avatars. I got mine to show correctly but destroyed all that everyone else had. I then installed three Plugins that provides an avatar based on the first letter in your name. None of them gave me what I wanted so all the prior Comment avatars have now been changed but I think you will get the same one every time you Comment. Maybe?
