I didn't find a Book Review for Volume One, which I was able to find as a book of its own, so have shown the table of contents to give an idea of what the book is about. It is a difficult read with run on sentences, late 19th century British English written by a 'intellectual'. About half of the chosen essays are written in defense of previous publications. I suggest that you read The Complicated Legacy of Herbert Spencer, the Man Who Coined ‘Survival of the Fittest’ before starting to read this book.

I had a lot of trouble formatting the posting, shown below, by John Ross. I wanted to make it look as much as possible like what he had posted. To just copy and paste into WordPress does not work because there is formatting in the original article that does not work in WordPress.

What is forced me to do is learn how to apply 'padding' around the text in the Block Paragraphs and also how to create a Group Block and then apply 'padding' to it. A learning experience that took a lot of time.

I don't have much to say today. Just complain about the cold weather some more. Yesterday morning the low was 16°. It had warmed up to 22 by 8:00 but I had frozen water pipes to the bathroom sink; the other lines were still open which was good. The high temperature on Wednesday was 46 with a stiff wind blowing almost all day. If the weather gurus can be believed, which I seldom do, the low temperature next Monday morning will be higher than that. They then have the rest of the morning lows for the 10 day forecast to all be in the 40s. I sure do hope they are right; I will even be happy with above freezing.

I liked this a lot more than the average customer rating at goodreads.com or Amazon. One of the Customer reviews at Amazon did give Severin credit for doing a lot of research to write the book. I recommend it as being one of his best books that I have read so far.

I have the last, I hope, post op appointment with the cataract surgeon on Tuesday. Maybe get a new prescription for glasses, I need reading glasses now for sure and think I'll get regular bifocals for my distance glasses. My distance vision is very good now so that part of the bifocal may be almost nothing but glass.

There were no Book Promos that I could find and very few Customer reviews for this book. It is certainly not one of Huxley's most read books. That should not be in my opinion. I can't say that I really liked the book but I liked his essays, some were good and some not so good, more than his novels.

I don't know why this (Leave a Comment / By Ed Frey / February 3, 2023) showed up on the Friday Post but it also now appears on every Post. If there have been Comments it shows how many but still says By Ed Frey when some of that number are not by me. I have submitted a 'Ticket' with Astra Support to fix it but have received nothing from them from far. I suspect that this is not a Bug but is a Feature that some programmer thought would be great.

You need to read this entire article They knew: why didn't the unvaccinated do more to warn us?. I don't know if the author is writing it as spoof or it is for real. Whichever it might be I suspect there will be more like it to come soon.

The author says there were more asset price bubbles between 1980 and 2000 than in any earlier period. Yet he devotes 80% of the book to prior periods. He also repeats what he has said many times which make the book at least a third longer than if he only said in one time. It would help you understand what he says if you were to have at least an undergraduate degree in economics. Therefore, be prepared to not understand all that he is saying.
