I find it very ironic that Will Durant in The Story of Civilization Volume I: Our Oriental Heritage said "Most history is guessing, and the rest is prejudice." He then went on to publish 11 volumes of The Story over a 40 year period from 1935 to 1975. I have started reading Our Oriental Heritage which is 1681 pages in print so I'll be reading it for a few days to say the least.

This is the second book in the Nantucket trilogy. Much like Turtledoves mixture of sci-fi and alternate history; a very good read.

I have failed repeatedly in my attempts to generate a PDF file from the WordPress pages, using Print My Blog. I have now linked all those pages together and can be seen by clicking on Peace Corps in the menu then read them using the Next button. I also intended for that cover page to have a link to the PDF file that could then be downloaded to any device and read off line. But I'm unable to do that owing to a lack of needed intelligence, programming skills or software at Print My Blog that works with what I have in my WordPress pages. I'll be moving on and try something different.

The book does not measure up to the promo. It is not a bad book but he doesn’t say anything that hasn’t been said many times during the past few years. I don’t recommend it.

I liked this book the better than the previous four in the series. Perhaps I'm just becoming used to Herbert's writing style. He didn't get bogged down in his philosophy and just told a good story.

I have finished adding all of the Bulgaria pages from my old homegrown website to WordPress pages. The formatting changed slightly, mostly in how I have shown the pictures, but the text remained unchanged. You can see what I have wrought by going to the hamburger menu and clicking on Bulgaria.

I went to Reserve again yesterday morning and had breakfast at Ella's. I then planned on looking around at Jake's General Merchandise but it was closed at 8:00 which the sign on the door claimed to be the time they opened. I'll try them again next week after I go to the Post Office that opens at 8:30.

On Valentine’s Day, four members of the Coverdale family were murdered in the space of fifteen minutes. Their housekeeper, Eunice Parchman, shot them one by one in the blue light of a televised performance of Don Giovanni. When the police arrest Miss Parchman two weeks later, they discover a second tragedy: the key to the Valentine’s Day massacre, a private humiliation Eunice Parchman has guarded all her life.

This is the first book in a trilogy which I'll read. Then decide if I want to read any of the other works by this author. She is British so there is some British English that may be off putting to some readers but I've become accustom to the 'language'. It is a good read and I recommend it.

Yesterday was a travel day again. It was over a route that I have driven a number of times before with just a slight detour. That was in Safford, AZ where I stopped for breakfast at Jerry’s and then went a couple blocks to Safeway. The drive was 202 miles on this route: US191, I-10/US191 (21 miles), US191, US70, US70/US191, US191, AZ78, NM78, US180 & NM12.
