26. NASRUDDIN AND THE MILKMAN…

Today is the third day with strong winds. They started earlier this morning that the other two days but I was able to get my shopping done and get back to the Park before they got too bad.

On the way to Safeway in South Bisbee I stopped for breakfast at Mornings Cafe in Warren, a 'neighborhood' of Bisbee. Warren is the home of Greenway Elementary School, Bisbee High School, and the historic Warren Ballpark.

24. GOOD GOOSE, BAD GOOSE…

I have 'Scheduled' this posting for today while I'm driving to my next camp. If what I have written here needs to be edited due to changes along the way I'll do that tomorrow. The drive was 321 miles with a breakfast stop at Sofia's in Gila Bend. Then a stop to fill Desperado's gas tank in Eloy. I also had to do a very slight detour for a stop at RV City to get my propane tank filled; I should have done that in Wellton during my last shopping trip. The route: Old US80/Los Angeles Ave, William St, I-8, Pima St (in Gilla Bend), I-8, I-10, AZ90, AZ82, AZ80, Davis Rd, Frontier Rd & Double Adobe Rd.

22. PAYMENT IN KIND…

Old West meets New West in this novel set in Southern California by early western writer Henry Herbert Knibbs (1874-1945). Most of the story, in fact, would happily take place in the 19th century. There is a ranch with cowboys on horses, gold prospecting in the Mojave, and a big gunfight outside a saloon. But for good measure, Knibbs also throws in a motor car, Los Angeles, and references to movie-making.

21. NASRUDDIN AND THE CASE OF THE COW

Nasruddin’s neighbor came running up, shouting loudly. “There’s been a terrible accident!” he said to Nasruddin.
“What happened?” asked Nasruddin, alarmed.
“Your ox got loose and gored my cow to death,” the neighbor explained. “Someone will have to pay!”
“What do you mean?” replied Nasruddin. “Surely you can’t hold me responsible for what my ox did to your cow.”

19. THE BEGGAR AND THE FOOD VENDOR…

A beggar eating a crust of stale bread stood next to a shish-kebab vendor, inhaling deeply. The smell made even his stale bread taste good.
“You must pay for the smell!” shouted the vendor.
When the poor man couldn’t pay, the vendor took him to court.
Nasruddin was the judge.
He listened to them both, and then he took some coins from his pocket, cupped his hands, and shook the coins.

17. NASRUDDIN AND THE SACKS OF WHEAT…

I did not like these essays as much as those that Wendell Berry has written. The very last one by Wes Jackson could have been given a miss.I don't suggest that you read any of them other than the one by Gary Paul Nabhan.

15. NASRUDDIN AND THE SLAP

A man slapped Nasruddin on the face, so Nasruddin took the man to court, accusing him of assault.

The judge ordered that the man must give Nasruddin a gold coin by way of damages.

13. NASRUDDIN’S BRIBE…

No other national park unit in the nation can tell the story of human history in North America as Pecos can; and no other park can do so with the aid of such an attractive landscape... Everywhere I went in the park, I ran into beauty and intrigue.

11. NASRUDDIN REPORTS A STOLEN DONKEY...

I have 'scheduled' this posting for today while I'll be driving to my next camp. That is something that I have learned how to do, I think, since using WordPress for a year now. There was a stop along the way for breakfast at Denny's and gas at Pilot in Eloy, AZ. The route was mostly on the Interstate; I have done most of it avoiding the Interstate but not this time. A total of 271 miles: AZ82, AZ90, I-10, I8, William St, Old US80 & Fresno St.

9. NASRUDDIN’S FLYING DONKEY…

I have not liked the first two books of this trilogy as well as the Nantucket series but will read the third book. Will then move on to some of the authors other series which I think are all alternate history which I enjoy.
