Missive #638

This is the seventh in the highly popular Caper Court series of novels recounting the lives and loves of a group of London barristers. An absorbing blend of romance and professional intrigue with fascinating insights into London’s legal world. All the familiar characters from Caper Court are here – Anthony Cross, the handsome young colleague with whom Leo shares a close – possibly too close – attachment; Rachel, the ex-wife who just can’t seem to let go; Henry and Felicity, 5 Caper Court’s long-suffering clerks – together with new faces: the lovely Anthea, who thinks she has the key to Leo’s heart; Lucy, the precocious, sexy seventeen year-old with a vengeful streak; Anthea’s friend, Lola, a girl with a taste for champagne and cocaine, and too much time and money to waste; and Viktor Kroitor, the ruthless Ukrainian who’s about to find out that there may be limits to the legendary incorruptibility of the English barrister. — Book promo @ fantasticfiction.com

We have been having winter these past few days. The morning lows starting last Friday have been below freezing with the daily high near 50. Maybe get above freezing on Wednesday or Thursday with the highs forecast to get back up into the 60s.
I did a morning walk on Sunday but is was 36°F with a 4 mph wind that was cutting through me. So with the afternoon temperature at 47 with the wind more than twice that I decided to stay close to the Wave 6. A short week for walks with the cold weather — I’m getting to be such a wuss in my old age.

I went to Sierra Vista yesterday with the #1 thing on my list was to find out if I still had Hecla stock that was not ‘called’ away by the Call Options that I sold. The reports that WellsTrade provides are very confusing to me. When I got there the ONE person in the office that can help me with WellTrade out sick. The branch Manager attempted to help but was able to do nothing other that have me open my online Brokerage account. After I got back to the Park I opened the account and found that the Options had been called(?) but again the report confused me. Be that as it may I now have cash in my account. I was going to have the fellow at Wells invest some or all the proceeds from the stock sale in the 52 week T Bill auction that was happening today. But he was sick! I can not do it online through WellsTrade so what I think I’ll do is buy shares in a EFT that holds one year T Bills which I might(?) be able to do online.

When I left Wells I went to the CoOp and picked up my order of Kite Hill yogurt and Bubbies Sauerkraut. Then down the street to My UPS where I found three pieces of junk mail. The next stop was at Cool Cuts where I got a hair cut. Then moved on to WalMart where I had my reading glasses repaired, the right lens was falling out. While there I picked up some groceries that should last me for a week. On the way out of town I stopped at Fry’s and filled Desperadoe’s tank with gas and found that I got poor gas milage on the last fill up.

I took a long way back to the Park and stopped at another RV park to see if it would be a place to stay next winter. Where I’m at is good but a long drive to Sierra Vista. I’m anticipating more trips to Sierra Vista next year and it would be good to be closer. The possible park is closer and will add 12 more spaces by next year. It fills up with mostly return snowbirds starting every November so I’ll be joining the flock if I do decide to go there. Right now I would say I will but will wait until later in the year before making a reservation.

Donald Trump said US forces will begin ground operations in Mexico targeting drug cartels, following months of naval strikes against suspected narcotics trafficking routes. The announcement drew opposition from Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, with any unilateral US military action on Mexican soil seen as a violation of international law and an unprecedented move against the failed government and narcostate. — Trump says US to ‘start now hitting land’ in Mexico targeting drug cartels by Aleksandar Brezar @ euronews

If US forces do enter Mexico on the ground vs bombing the cartel there are going to be a lot of US troops killed. I don’t think this is going to work out well. During the past week President Trump has also threatened military action in Cuba, Colombia, and Greenland. He is acting like a school yard bully.
The bully’s unconscious mind, his/her blue print says, “Unless I get caught, I’m free and I love the thrill of both the chase and the kill! It’s great to be the King of the play ground. I am the strongest/largest, I’m in charge, I own this place! Might is right! He’s not one of us, he’s an outsider and dad says he threatens our way of life so I’m helping keep those outsiders down! He’s fat, she’s ugly, she/he deserves whatever I decide to give them!”Inside the mind of the school-yard bully by Scott Cooper
