I think I’m back to reading books that I can recommend. Have downloaded a lot of them from authors that I have enjoyed in the past. Like this one from Cornwell which always writes a book that I like. This one does not have much history behind it as do most of his historical fiction but it is good fiction.

Last Monday morning when I drove to Elephant Butte I guess that I saw close to 150 elk with maybe 75 in one heard that included one bull. There were elk everywhere. I slowed down to almost a stop when i saw some very close to the road and it was good that I did because a calf ran right in front of me. The Park host told me yesterday that he had hit an elk on Thursday and it came right up into his windshield. I took a look at it and it is a a mess. There are probably more elk killed every year by vehicles than all the hunters manage to get.

I have got all my monthly household chores taken care of. On Sunday I’ll do laundry and fill Desperado’s water tank. That should have me ready for what I think will be be an all week stay under cover, so no internet, while the engine is being replaced. If I have anything worth writing about I’ll do it when I get an internet connection and backdate the posting(s).
