99. Nasruddin Thinks of Soup
Nasruddin was hungry, but he had nothing to eat in the house. He sat in the kitchen, dreaming of soup. A nice noodle soup with beans and lentils, some onion and spinach, seasoned with some turmeric, yogurt on the side…
Then, as Nasruddin was thinking about that soup, he heard a knock at the door. It was his neighbor’s young son.
“Please, Nasruddin,” said the boy, “if you have cooked a pot of soup here, may we please have some?”
The boy then held out an empty bowl.
“Incredible!” Nasruddin exclaimed. “The neighbors can smell even the thought of soup.”

Last Tuesday no one showed up to work on installing the replacement engine in Desperado. I sent an email to the garage owner at 9:00 am and asked what was going on. It took him until almost noon to reply that he had ordered some parts that were needed before the install could be done and they would be here in a couple of days. So, maybe Thursday OR maybe Friday OR maybe next week. I had told Jake’s that I would be there to pick up the yogurt order this Thursday so asked the garage owner to pick it up for me. He sent back an email that said the order had not come in and that a reorder would be delivered next Monday. I also told the garage owner that I would be faced with a need to dump holding tanks and add fresh water by this weekend. I have not heard from him what the solution for that might be. Maybe I’ll have a engine by then OR maybe not.
The parts were to be delivered on Wednesday but were not sent. So, the garage sent someone to Show Low on Thursday to pick them up. After getting the parts back here the two mechanics went to work and continued until it got too dark to continue. They are convinced that I’ll be back running by the end of today. We will see.

It’s been very difficult for Americans to understand that the rest of the world doesn’t aspire to become like them. And while Americans also like to think of the USA as the big dog on the world stage, I don’t think many of them grasp that many countries around the world, including some very powerful ones, are beginning to conclude that the big dog is now rabid. And what is the point of talking to a rabid dog? — WW III Is Already Underway by Vox Day
