Missive #456

Luther Eustis runs off with and then murders Beulah, his much younger girlfriend. The book starts with his murder trial and his guilt is not in dispute. What makes this book entertaining are the character studies and back stories of the people who tell the story of this crime in alternating chapters. This is the first book I have read by this author. I’ll be reading more of his in the days to come. These chapters gradually reveal all of the circumstances surrounding the murder. We hear from the murderer, his wife, the victim, the murderer’s defense lawyer, a reporter and others. It was very well written and the narration of the audio book by Grover Gardner was very good. — A customer review @ goodreads.com

I don’t have much news. There was a shopping trip for groceries yesterday with another breakfast at The Bisbee Breakfast Club. They had a larger crowd than the past few times I have been there. Maybe the Mornings Café is loosing more business since their prices have gone up?

The other bit of news is that winter has returned here. It froze yesterday morning and probably this morning although I haven’t checked. The forecast is for an even colder weekend with a chance of rain and snow. Then warming but dipping back to below freezing on occasion. I have plugged in the basement heater again for the next 10 days.
