151. Nasruddin and the Small Boat

Nasruddin had gone fishing with a friend in a very small sailboat.

While they were far from shore, a sudden storm blew up unexpectedly. Fierce winds ripped the sails to shreds and waves tossed the boat back and forth.

When the little boat began to fill with water, Nasruddin was truly frightened. “What are we going to do?” he shouted at his friend.

“Do not worry,” said his friend calmly. “Let us direct our prayers to God, who is great and merciful.”

“God is great and merciful, I know,” replied Nasruddin, “but this boat is small and it is sinking!”

I went to town again on Wednesday with a first stop at Ella’s for breakfast. Then took Desperado to the garage again for a check up for leaks after the thermostat gasket had been installed. No leaks but he gave me a gallon of antifreeze and told me to top the holding tank off after the engine cooled down. Total charge – NOTHING. From there it was down the block to Jake’s for some groceries and from the same parking lot I walked over to the Post Office and picked up a package that had come via UPS but handed off to the USPS. This was a couple jars of beef tallow from Steadfast Provisions and good source for beef tallow and pemmican.

Yesterday I did not take Erik for our walk. Wednesday evening he was not acting his usual self and yesterday morning he was very lethargic so we took the day off. He was back to maybe 90% of his usual exuberance this morning and did our 3 mile route just fine. Maybe with a little less pulling than usual which has me rating him at the 90%. HA
